Overview:

Doctor Pichet Rodchareon M.D. is a board certified surgeon in Bangkok, Thailand. He has performed over 3,000 procedures. The Bangkok plastic surgery center prides itself on using cutting edge technology and results. All surgical procedures are performed at their over 400 bed facility.
He uses a standard penile inversion technique, but can also do a scrotal skin graft or sigmoid colon vaginoplasty if you need more depth.

Dr. Pichet speaks both English and Thai fluently. Since English is his second language, occasionally you might need to rephrase your questions. He is very patient though and really takes the time to talk to you, so you won't need to worry about any miscommunication.

Requirements for Surgery:

Dr. Pichet follows the WPATH standards of care.

Letters of Recommendation for SRS:

You will need a letter approving you for surgery from a therapist or psychiatrist. The letter should state how long you have lived full time in the new gender, and how long you have been on hormones. A letter from a relative, friend or employer stating that you are a good candidate for surgery is also helpful. To meet new regulations in Thailand, you may be required to come early to see a Thai psychiatrist.

(List of online therapists that can provide a surgery letter)

Dr. Pichet would also like a letter from yourself. It should state your desire for sex reassignment surgery, how long ago you started transitioning and that you realize it is irreversible.

A letter from a friend, family member or employer would also be helpful.

Age:

You must be at least 18 years old. If you are older than 60, you will need to pay a $1,000 USD fee.

Electrolysis:

Dr. Pichet doesn't require genital electrolysis. He will remove the hairs during surgery. Any hair removal done before SRS will reduce the risk of hair growth in your vagina. Perineal hairs should be removed prior to SRS for the best results. You can reduce the hairs from home with the Tria Laser (www.triabeauty.com) or Silk'n (www.silkn.com).

You also may be able to do some of your own electrolysis from home with the One Touch system. The cheapest place to buy it is on Ebay, it usually costs about $10 USD. Make sure to also get replacement tips though, they bend easily.

I have found Tend Skin to work very well to reduce redness and bumps after electrolysis.

Health:

If you have any medical problems such as diabetes, asthma, or high blood pressure, then you will be charged an additional $1,000 fee. This is to pay for a Doctor of internal medicine to take care of you during surgery.

Hormones:

You should take hormones for at least a year before surgery. You will be required to show a form of documentation as proof.

Dr. Pichet requires for you to stop taking HRT one week prior to your SRS date. This is to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (blood clots).

Weight:

If you weigh over 225 pounds (102.27 kg), then Dr. Pichet will charge you an additional $1,000 USD added on to the price below.

How Much Does Dr. Pichet Cost?:

 Male to Female (MtF)  Price
 Vaginoplasty (SRS/GRS):  $6,500 USD
 Colon Vaginoplasty:  $8,500 USD
 Tracheal Shave:  $1,500 USD
 Breast Augmentation:  $2,600 USD
Buttock or Hip Enlargement:  $4,000 USD
 Hair Graft:  $2,500 USD

Deposit:

Doctor Pichet has a 10% deposit to schedule an appointment for surgery. It will also secure the price, so that you can avoid any cost increases.

Stay:

Dr. Pichet would like for you to stay in Thailand for 2 weeks after surgery. After the first week you will need to stay at a hotel. He can book a room for you, but you will need to pay for it yourself. Most hotels in the area are $30-60 USD per night.

Vaginal Depth:

In the past Dr. Pichet was known for only being able to create a depth of about 2 inches (5.08 cm). Over the last few years though, using a scrotal skin graft he has averaged a depth of 5-6 inches (12.7-15.24 cm). This number could be higher or lower depending on your unique anatomy. Correct, persistent use of a vaginal stent can help to increase and maintain the depth. If this isn't enough, then Dr. Pichet can also do an abdominal skin graft for an additional $1,000 USD. There is also the option of a sigmoid colon vaginoplasty.

Aftercare:

After MTF SRS, you will need to use a vaginal dilator for the rest of your life. This is to retain the depth. Each surgeon has slightly different methods of dilation, you will need to follow your surgeon's instructions.

Travel:

You should make sure to check the cost of traveling when calculating the price of surgery. You can use
www.skyscanner.net  and www.priceline.com to find the most affordable flights.

Dr. Pichet will provide transportation for you from the airport to his clinic.
